When were you founded?

My wife wanted a sweet little store in an urban high-traffic area. She had an eye on the space – a converted 1920’s garage – in Seattle’s diverse and walkable Capitol Hill neighborhood We are within walking distance to wonderful coffee bars, restaurants, inns, Volunteer Park, the Conservatory and the Seattle Asian Art Museum.

In early 2008 when the store owner wanted out of the space, we moved in. Casita means “little house” in Spanish, perfect for our little shop in a little old house!

How do you pick your products?

They say that good things come in small packages. Casita is packed with unique items designed by us, artists and craftspeople in Seattle, the United States, and,  through our fair trade partners, from all around the world.

The store started as a specialty Mexican import shop but quickly evolved into a gift and treat-yourself store for the neighborhood, Seattle shoppers and tourists. Our customers are urban, diverse, ecologically aware, and most of all – very sweet and kind. Finding the right products to sell is exciting and rewarding!

How long have you been selling Mixture®?

We’ve been selling Mixture long enough that I forget when we started – I think my wife found Mixture with a previous store that focused on scented products. For us, soy wax and clean burning wicks are very important.

Our customers like Mixture’s smaller votives because they look pretty when burning, they’re relatively inexpensive, and perfect for smaller spaces like an apartment. They also appreciate that there are scents available that are herbal and smoky instead of the usual floral and sweet.

Small businesses and shopping local are vital to the success of our economy and the American dream. If you are interested in shopping for Mixture products, we always recommend you look for a local store near you!
